So I decided to get a Vita and try out the localization (along with some other ace games for the system I can get, yay). So good a place as any for discussion of it. Things hated, liked, etc? If you haven't played it, anything you want me to keep an eye out for you of? I'm pretty excited to actually experience DR as a game. I'll be starting it sometime between today and tomorrow

Hagakure has MUCH more personality in the game than in the anime, I'll tell you that much.
So far I'm really enjoying it, but the MTB is harder than I expected (Or may I'm just crap at it!!)

Just finished Chapter 2. I had a hard time with the Hangman's Gambit in Trial 2 (seriously how could I be expected to guess that). Otherwise the gameplay is lenient enough (knowing the plot well enough from the original read through doesn't hurt, only a few Non-Stop Debates need thought. Speaking of, I LOVE the Closing Statements, because when Naegi is giving his summation and that music (Climactic Return? Climactic Something it was called) plays, one feels so awesome.
It's really fun going through it, and loving the characters all the more (the localization does a good job of keeping the humor and personality). The voice acting is all over the place, but after getting used to it it all fits. Even Celestia's obnoxious accent. Which I have more comments on, but can wait till later. Even Monobear's also annoying voice ends up fitting remarkably well.

I've found it really interesting seeing what little bits were in the game but not the anime (And vice versa), but I've also had to say goodbye to both THH and my Vita.
I'm more upset than one should be over a games console and I know it's for the best. Hopefully, I can get one for my birthday or Xmas or something.
And YES on the voices. Ishida's 'swearing' annoyed me quite a bit, but I won't spoiler if you've not reached that part yet.

The treatment of swearing as a whole...I wouldn't say annoyed me, but stood out. Ishida's I found funny. Everyone besides Mondo constantly danced around it like middle schoolers worried their parents were in the other room, even Togami. As for voice actors/voices
SPOILERS FOR TRIAL/CHAPTER 3 IGNORE OTHERWISE JUST SKIP RIGHT ON THROUGH While I hate Celeste, and for the most part found her accent obnoxious, near the end of trial three when she drops the fake accent her va had a pretty good performance, subdued but fitting. At the other end of the spectrum though SPOILERS FOR END GAME SERIOUSLY IGNORE, I'M LENGTHENING THIS SO YOU DON'T ACCIDENTALLY SEE THE SPOILER AND ARE FOCUSED ON THE LONG WARNING INSTEAD (Actually let me edit the name and pronouns out just in case) The Mastermind's's va...god what a mess. Half of the voices were emotionless (and I get intentionally so but they had little variety between them and were all boring as hell) and the other half were over the top (almost to an annoying extent). It's really the emotionless voices that annoyed me though. And at the end you only get a short bit to hear them not putting on an act with the voices. ALL SPOILERS OVER
On the whole the voice acting grew on me pretty quickly. I loved some choices, like Sakura, others took some time but I came to enjoy (Monobear. Shining example right there). The only problems I'd say (that I didn't already and aren't spoilers) are Kirigiri and Togami sound fairly bland at first. Actually I could say a surprisingly large amount on all their voices now that I think about it but it's getting a little much.
Anyway I beat the game, and you know what? It holds up as a good story gameplay aside, those who read the translation LP already knew that well, but as a game? It does amazing. The gameplay is fun, the plot is, naturally, even more engaging when playing it, the soundtrack works really well, the localization did a really good job (not that I'm holding a side by side comparison with the translation lp to see what's different). Even aside from DR fans it's something I'd recommend people play. For DR fans, if you happen to have a vita, definitely give it a try. I still have to play School Mode though, and unlock all the extra stuff like artwork and such.
